Remembrance : Bryan Moreton

The Old Abtarians are sad to report that one of their founding members Bryan Moreton passed away on Friday 23rd January 2009 in the Myton Hamlet Hospice aged 78.

Bryan was a leading member of the Midlands Region of ABTA and for ten years during the 80's served as committee member and Chairman of the Shipping Committee where he worked tirelessly to improve the relationship with Cruise Operators and travel agents and was highly supportive in setting up the PSARA (predecessor of ACE) which through it's training of travel agents was highly influential in expanding the British Cruising Market.

Bryan was also the vice-chairman of the Travel Agents Council from 1986-88 where he supported Colin Brain when he was Chairman, "a harder working and more supportive VC could not exist" said Colin, "he made my life as Chairman a breeze - it was a pleasure to work alongside him - we will all miss him and our feelings go out to his lovely wife Avril and his daughter Julia"

Bob Duffett, the founder and Chief Executive of PSARA expressed the view that "Bryan will be sadly missed by all of us in the Cruise Industry that worked with him over many many years."

In recent years Bryan utilised his contacts in the shipping world to produce some brilliant deals for members of the Old Abtarians.
